Great job! Now keep reading and put your knowledge to the test:
What do you notice about all these images?
Why don't sports fans' riots reflect as poorly on professional athletics as the current riots do on the #blacklivesmatter movement?
Why do people riot after their team loses? Why do people riot after their team wins? Because the "sports" segment of the entertainment industry has such a powerful hold on people that they get destructive when their team loses. Or wins. Whatever.
Why are people rioting in Baltimore? I can't pretend to know every motivation for what is going on, but I do know that there are fellow human beings who are suffering in this country. These people are crying out, have been crying out for decades, and who listens? We all need to listen and try to understand with empathy, rather than condemning others because we feel uncomfortable when we think about race.
Civilization exists because life is easier when we work together. Western civilization has and continues to favor people of European descent. Until we can address this, things are going to get worse before they get better.
Why do people riot after sports games? Trivial reasons. Why are people rioting in Baltimore? Important, life-altering (and sometimes life-ending) reasons. Wake up! We need to change!
